ROWLAND SHERET
This clip confirms that even die-hard socialists are capable of letting their hair down now and again. The event took place in the Mayfield Centre in Stirling, in the evening after the 1983 May Day Rally.
The person directing operations is Stewart Hepburn. He later became a professional actor. If you look closely you will also see that Rowland is actually there making a fool of himself – although he does look somewhat more sheepish than anybody else.
With his back to the camera for most of the time and thoroughly enjoying himself is Alan Pow, Rowland’s work colleague and Bridge opponent for many years.
